All Suzuki students of cello, flute, guitar, piano, viola, or violin are welcome. You should plan to be at Hope Academy for most of the day on Saturday, November 16, from 9am to4pm, although if you have other activities already scheduled, we will try towork around them as much as possible. On Sunday, plan to be at the workshop from 2 to 6pm.
Your classes will include:
• a masterclass lesson on your instrument, which means you will spend
an hour in a class of students at your level and will play for the teacher for
15 or 20 minutes of that hour.
• a group class, where you will play Suzuki repertoire at your level with a
group of 6 to 12 other students.
• a Dalcroze Eurhythmics class, moving to music in order to improve
• and special interest classes, like ensembles for pianists, Yoga for appropriate ages, African Dance and drumming, and visual art activities.
At the end of the day on Saturday, at 4:30pm, we will have a pot luck dinner
for all the workshop participants and clinicians. There is a full kitchen with
lots of space in the refrigerators, large ovens, and a microwave, so you can
bring your contribution along in the morning. We will have more information
on what to bring closer to the workshop.
At 5:00pm on Sunday, we will have several concerts in the Sanctuary, the Chapel, and the Music Room of the church. The string, flute, and guitar groups will have play-downs led by our local teachers and the pianists will play solos - what a great way to end our time together!
