Greater Pittsburgh Suzuki Institute

Dear Suzuki Friends,

Once again, we have canceled our summer institute for this year, 2021. There are just too many questions we can't answer about what public health guidelines will be in place in August and how we could keep everyone safe. However, we have a plan! We will hold an outdoor, socially-distanced weekend workshop on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23, 2021 in Highland Park here in Pittsburgh. Read below to see the general structure and the planned offerings. You will be able to register on this site very soon - keep checking back!

ABOUT

After so many months of making music virtually, we are all looking forward to meeting in person! The Greater Pittsburgh Suzuki Institute is holding an outdoor, socially-distanced Suzuki workshop for all Pittsburgh-area students of cello, flute, guitar, piano, viola, and violin. We will have group classes for all those instruments as well as other engaging classes, including visual art, drumming, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and possibly yoga for children, zumba, and story-telling. We hope to end the weekend with a musical parade through the park!

Cost per student will be kept to around $50. At this point we believe masks will be required for all participants, although we will follow public health guidelines in place at the time of the workshop. The hours of the workshop will be 11:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23 and classes will take place in Highland Park, in the East End. We have rented four contiguous shelters in case of rain. Pianists will be playing electronic keyboards.
